What are the important listserver addresses? 2. How do I signoff/unsubscribe? 3. How can I switch to a Digest format? 4. I'm going away; how can I stop mail from the list? 5. My E-Mail address is changing - what do I do? 6. Where can I find this FAQ? =============================================================================== 1. What are the important listserver addresses? ------------------------------------------------ kflist@yahoogroups.com | This is the address you would | use to post a message to the list | in general. Please keep in mind | that *any*thing posted to this | address goes out to *everybody* on | the list, and it is *NOT* the place | to post list management requests. kflist-subscribe@yahoogroups.com | This points to the specific kflist-unsubscribe@yahoogroups.com | listmanaging processes for | a specific list. It obviates | the need to specify which | list you are referring to. | Send a message to either to | subscribe or unsubscribe to | the kungfu list. kflist-owner@yahoogroups.com | This points to the manager | of these kungfu lists. If you | have problems with the above, | please feel free to email. KF-Archives@leper.tamu.edu | Send requests for the old (pre-Aug2001) | archives of the kungfu list here. For | more help, send a HELP command in the | body of a message to this address. 2. How do I signoff/unsubscribe? --------------------------------- All you need to do is to send a message to the address kflist-subscribe@yahoogroups.com (to subscribe) or kflist-unsubscribe@yahoogroups.com (to unsubscribe). Alternatively, you can use the web and add/remove/alter your subscription at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/kflist If you use the e-mail method, it is imperative that you send the subscription/unsubscription request from the e-mail address you are subscribed as (or wish to subscribe as). If you insist on being so rude to post unsubsribe requests to the list, YOU WILL BE IGNORED. DO NOT SEND SUCH REQUESTS TO THE LIST. It is rude, inconsiderate, and just plain bad manners. Don't be one of the many cretins who could care less about netiquette. 3. How can I switch to a Digest format? ---------------------------------------- Simply go to the web control for this mailing list, http://groups.yahoo.com/group/kflist, and modify your setting to get a "Daily Digest" instead of individual messages. If this is not possible, or does not work, just send me a message and I'll take care of it for you (my address is kflist-owner@yahoogroups.com). 4. I'm going away; how can I stop mail from the list? ------------------------------------------------------ Again, go to the mailing list control website, at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/kflist, and modify your setting to get "No Mail". If this is not possible, or does not work, just send me a message and I'll take care of it for you (my address is kflist-owner@yahoogroups.com). 5. My E-Mail address is changing - what do I do? ------------------------------------------------- Go to http://groups.yahoo.com/group/kflist and change your setting to reflect your new e-mail address. Or, you can signoff the old address and subscribe the new address to the list. See #1 and #3 for info on how to do these things. 6. Where can I find this FAQ? ------------------------------ This FAQ goes out monthly, on the 1st of each month, to all current list members. It is also available via the WWW at either of these two locations: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/kflist (under Files) http://www.kungfu.cc/kflist_faq.shtml =============================================================================== Please send any comments or suggestions to: kflist-owner@yahoogroups.com *** HERE'S THE CHARTER AS IT APPEARS IN ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR THE GROUP *** Do you practice traditional chinese martial arts? Would you like a forum in which the discussion is centered on these arts? Well, you might want to join the Kung Fu mailing list. Any and all styles of Kung Fu are welcome there, be they Hung Gar, Wing Chun, Tan Tui, 6-Harmonies Northern Mantis, Choy Li Fut, Long Fist, Ba Chi Chuan, etc, etc, - you get the idea. To subscribe, simply send a message to: kflist-subscribe@yahoogroups.com with the following in the BODY of the message: SUBSCRIBE (your name here) Your name is optional; if you choose to enter it, omit the parantheses. Both a -digest and a non-digest version are offered for your convenience. Beyond that, post, read, and enjoy, and by all means stay civil - we're all here because we are in some way, shape, or fashion interested in traditional chinese martial arts. Anything and everything pertaining to traditional chinese martial arts is more than welcome here. Specifically, posts that are wastes of time, such as mindless taunts, trolls, outright flames, and whatnot, are not encouraged. Do not respond to these on the list; either let them slide or address them in private e-mail, where they belong. Starting an uproar on the list only serves to drag out the useless thread. Let's take this opportunity to discuss Kung Fu (or gungfu, or kuo shu, or wushu, or wu kung, or weijia, or whatever you like to call it), and not waste each other's time with drivel, please. That means *NO UFC*, *NO FLAMES*, *NO MOVIES*, in short, *NO OFF-TOPIC POSTS* at all. If you have a non- kungfu-related problem with someone's post, *TAKE IT TO E-MAIL*. Also, please keep "me-too" and "welcome" posts in private e-mail - don't flood everyone's mailboxes with any type of messages that should really be private, even if the sentiment is a good one.
