Just wanted to start a topic for discussions, clarifications, training schedules, suggestions, and all that for the monthy Instructor Training sessions out here in Louisiana.

All instructors and assistant instructors of TKF are welcome to participate.

The next Instructor Training will be the weekend of May 1st, due to the hectic schedule during April (brown/black sash test and weekend training campout).

Thereafter, Instructor Training will return to the last weekend of every month, unless announced otherwise. The calendar shows upcoming Instructor Trainings at http://www.kungfu.cc/cal/

The next ones planned are (so far):
5/1/04
5/29/04
6/26/04

We will certainly have some advanced training at the weekend campout, so be prepared to be quite taxed - Chris and Dan N especially.

For the next official instructor training, though, I want to double-check Ta Fan Che and some other current material, and also start you guys on Advanced Staff and get you going on your requirements (forms and others) for your next ranks. As you know, I like to have those in place long before testing time so you actually know them, instead of just remember them.

Additionally, we have to look at the details again of some basics and then dissect some Duan Chuans. That should give a good base of detail-dissected material for teaching that will cover folks for about a year's worth of training.

Just trying to figure out the plans for the next bits of training...

Dan, I think you said you weren't going to be able to make it to May's training (5/29), right? I have to be in Portland, Oregon for a conference from June 9 through June 15, so that's out, too. Plus, there's the MLF gathering (or wedding the same weekend - still haven't decided which I have to go to). Check my calendar ( http://www.kungfu.cc/cal/ ) for when you can make it. Remember, Kira comes the 20th, so that weekend is out.

Chris, what are your plans? Come when Dan does, or were you planning on making May 29th by yourself?

Or, do we want to do it THIS weekend (May 22), instead? There's a day seminar in Modern Arnis by Guro Earl Tullis (3rd degree modern arnis, and personal student of Dr. Schea) down in LaFayette that I've been invited to, but you guys could come here Fri/Sat and then whoever wants to could do the Sunday session with me if you like. If it goes well, they may want me to do seminars down there as well.

Reply #5 Posted at Wed May 19 04:49:19 2004 IP65.0.39.236 You count as an moved-away student - you're always welcome to come by and train if I'm in. And I'm sure Sifu Rivers and Mr. Nowlan would love to see you on one of the instructor training weekends. Best bet for picking a weekend I'm here would also be on one of those weekends, as most of my weekends somehow end up being used up totally.
