Brown/Black Sash Test Spr'04
Started at Wed Apr 14 21:18:44 2004 IP204.196.55.102 Just wanted to drop a note to wish both Mr. Rivers and Mr. Nowlan the best of luck on their test spread out over this week! Good luck and enjoy!

Remember, it's like extra training opportunities and it's a chance to shine for TKF and get feedback from Master Wang at the same time. So, have a blast and relax (if you can!).

But Saturday's full day of testing will be much more of what you'd normally be expecting.

Reply #3 Posted at Fri Apr 16 13:39:01 2004 IP165.91.177.45 You sure about that? I mean we've been through YOUR pre-tests. I figure it can't be that bad. Anyway, last night went well. Although I sure would like to do some of the forms slower...I mean, I like looking sharp and not having to play catch-up the whole time. Oh well. See you soon.

Reply #4 Posted at Fri Apr 16 13:42:07 2004 IP204.196.55.102 Well, the long day of testing usually covers things well, even repeating things quite a bit, though the pace is slow at times (waiting, then going, then waiting, etc), but I think you'll like it, complete with the run out to the park and then the stances and the training out there, then running back and doing stances.

Plus, I'll encourage Master Wang to call on you guys to do Ta Fan Che. *grin* He probably won't call you guys for it, but you never know...

Reply #6 Posted at Sun Apr 18 22:52:21 2004 IP65.0.42.38 I'm pleased to report excellent results from the recent rank test. Grandmaster Cheng was there, as well as one of his top students teaching in Houston, Sifu Willie Dotson. So, our two fine testees are the following ranks:

Sifu Chris Rivers, 1st degree black sash
Mr. Dan Nowlan, brown sash

Hearty congratulations to them both - you can bet they'll be psyched and put lots of energy into this coming weekend's training camp!

I wish I could've seen the test, it would have been awesome to see you guys blow everyone else out of the water grin

Sorry I didn't make it to class last night, biology and engineering hatched an evil plot to take over and I had to stay home and fend them off confused

Reply #10 Posted at Mon Apr 19 19:50:48 2004 IP204.196.55.102 I think it'd be a great idea to give people a better idea of what kind of event the brown/black sash test is. I've shared snippets of my experiences in this regard, but I thought it might be good to get a fresh perspective on things.

Sifu Rivers or Mr. Nowlan, would you be up to doing an in-depth write-up of the three-day affair for us?
